Shore Capital and Puma Hotels

Shore Capital
Shore Capital was established in 1985 as an investment banking group. Shore Capital was a founder of Puma Hotels plc (formerly Dawnay Shore Hotels plc), which was originally established as a joint venture between Shore Capital and Dawnay Day in July 2004 as a specialist vehicle to acquire portfolios of UK hotels. The idea was to create a tax efficient, cash generative investment vehicle to acquire a portfolio of four star regional hotels, with the objective of securing enhanced returns for its investors by financing the acquisitions using debt as well as equity and realising value in the medium term.

The Hotel Corporation was established as a publicly quoted feeder for investment in Puma Hotels.  Puma Hotels acquired 20 major leisure and conference hotels across Britain and established the Paramount chain as one of Britain's leading up market chains. In September 2007, Puma Hotels agreed to lease its assets and transfer its operating business to Barceló, the leading Spanish hotels company. As a result, Puma Hotels has become a specialist property company with a contracted rising rental stream, inflation indexed but also benefiting from growth in the profitability of the hotels.

As of 23 July 2008, Shore Capital Limited acts as the exclusive portfolio manager for Puma Hotels plc and Howard Shore chairs the company's board of directors.

Shore Capital Limited
Shore Capital Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, also manages a number of other funds and has in total about £1.5b under management.
